The Natural History Museum of Western Wyoming is a public, not-for-profit
educational institution whose dedicated purpose is:

• To educate and inspire its audience with an understanding and appreciation for the
significant historical and scientific values of fossil specimens.
• To stimulate the imagination of our diverse audience, by providing thought-provoking
interactions with vertebrate & invertebrate fossil specimens, scientific concepts, and
real hands on fossil experiences creating an appreciation of paleontological study.
• To provide a sophisticated research center for the public.
• To heed in the aid of scholarships, providing a haven for students of paleontology, with an
extensive supply of specimens.
• To be a repository for type and undescribed specimens.
• To create gainful employment to the community of Alpine and surrounding areas.

 

The Natural History Museum of Western Wyoming is dedicated to preserving and interpreting significant fossil specimens, their origins, scientific value, and related elements. In addition the museum will strive to foster the preservation and understanding of America’s fossil bearing formations.

To accomplish these ends, The Natural History Museum of Western Wyoming shall:

• Preserve fossil specimens, geologic materials, and other appropriate sources representative
of Natural History indicative to the Natural History Museum of Western Wyoming.
• Interpret fossil and cast specimens in an informative, stimulating and entertaining
manner to provide positive learning experiences for people of all ages.
• Serve as a resource for those interested in furthering research and scholarship
concerning paleontology and or related subjects.
